Kets is an amused outsider. With a generous dose of humour and an eye for detail, he shows us the little things that make us human. Kets snaps unmercifully; his photographs are bursting with colour, but far from disguise the reality. Jimmy Kets (Lier, 1979)
Jimmy Kets is persfotograaf en woont in Antwerpen. Hij volgde er de richting Illustratieve Vormgeving aan de Sint Lucas Hogeschool. In 2001 begon hij als freelancer voor de krant De Morgen die hij begin 2009 inruilde voor De Standaard. Zijn foto’s verschijnen ook in de Volkskrant en NRC Handelsblad, de weekbladen Knack, HUMO en Trends, en worden via het fotoagentschap Reporters wereldwijd verspreid. Hij won tal van prijzen, waaronder de Nikon Promising Young Photographer Award 2006 en 2008, de Canvasprijs De film van mijn leven 2007, de Fotopersprijs VVJ 2007 en 2 keer de prijs voor de humoristische persfoto van SABAM in 2006 en 2007. Jimmy Kets is één van België’s meest getalenteerde persfotografen.

Jimmy Kets is a press photographer and lives in Antwerp, where he studied illustrative design at the Sint Lucas Hogeschool. In 2001 he started working as a freelancer for the daily newspaper De Morgen, moving in early 2009 to De Standaard. 
His photographs also appear in the dailies de Volkskrant and NRC Handelsblad, the weeklies Knack, HUMO and Trends, and are distributed worldwide by the photographic agency Reporters. He was won numerous prizes, including the Nikon Promising Young Photographer Award in 2006 and 2008, the Canvas prize, De film van mijn leven (The Film of My Life) in 2007 and the VVJ Photo Press Prize in 2007 and has twice been awarded SABAM’s prize for the most humorous press photo, in 2006 and 2007. Jimmy Kets is one of Belgium’s most talented press photographers.
